John Gannage, MD, CCFP, FMAPS
b. 1965
Dr. John Gannage is the founder and Medical Director of Markham Integrative Medicine, where he has been advancing the prevention and treatment of chronic disease through nutrition, detoxification, immune modulation and the reduction of oxidative stress since 1998. He has special focus in using biomedical therapies to assist children and families affected by developmental issues, including autism.
A longstanding practitioner of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), Dr. Gannage is considered an expert in the field of CAM, and is often requested to provide his opinion on the current standard of care and best practices within his professional domain. He serves as a peer assessor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), working on behalf of the Investigations, Resolutions and Complaints Committee, and has acted as a preceptor for fellow physicians as part of the CPSO’s self-regulating governance and education initiatives.
Dr. Gannage was a principal investigator for the Trial to Assess Chelation Therapy (TACT) and received training in oxidative medicine and lipid exchange therapy. He is a Defeat Autism Now clinician, and Fellow of the Medical Academy of Pediatrics and Special Needs (MAPS).
Over the past 10 years, Dr. Gannage has supported the advancement of orthomolecular medicine in Canada and abroad. He has developed and presented continuing medical education programs on topics including children’s mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders, environmental medicine, and histamine intolerance.
For his numerous contributions to advancing orthomolecular and integrative medicine in Canada, Dr. John Gannage was inducted into the the Orthomolecular Medicine Hall of Fame on October 3, during the ISOM Polypharmacy Reduction Conference in Toronto.

Dr. Paul E. Marik, MD, FCCM, FCCP
b. 1958
Dr. Paul Marik has extensive training in internal medicine, critical care, neurocritical care, pharmacology, anesthesia, nutrition, and tropical medicine and hygiene. He completed a critical care fellowship in London, Ontario (Canada) and has worked in the United States since 1992. Dr. Marik is a former tenured Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.
A world-renowned expert in critical care, Dr. Marik has authored over 500 peer-reviewed journal articles, 80 book chapters and 4 textbooks. He has been cited over 55,000 times in peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Marik has delivered over 350 lectures at international conferences and during visiting professorships. As a result of his contributions, he has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards, including the National Teacher of the Year award by the American College of Physicians in 2017.
In 2017, Marik and colleagues published a protocol for using hydrocortisone, intravenous vitamin C, and thiamine in the treatment of sepsis. Considered controversial by the medical establishment, this therapy has saved innumerable lives when applied in clinical settings.
In 2020, Dr. Marik co-founded the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (now the Independent Medical Alliance) to advocate for the use of nutraceuticals and repurposed drugs in the prevention and treatment of coronavirus. His work has since expanded to include resources focused on cancer, brain health, mental health, and insulin resistance.
For his invaluable contributions to advancing critical care medicine and the incorporation of nutrients in treating sepsis, severe complications of COVID, and Cancer, Dr. Paul Marik was inducted into the the Orthomolecular Medicine Hall of Fame on October 3, during the ISOM Polypharmacy Reduction Conference in Toronto.
