The International Society for Orthomolecular Medicine is pleased to announce Dr. Ilyes Baghli has been named as the new President, effective June 2023. Dr. Baghli takes over from Dr. Atsuo Yanagisawa (Japan), who has held the role of President since 2012.

We thank Dr. Yanagisawa for his eleven years of service. He has been an energetic international leader, helping to form new Orthomolecular societies in Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines, while presenting hundreds of lectures, seminars and conferences in Japan.

Dr. Baghli founded the Algerian Society for Nutrition and Orthomolecular Medicine (SANMO) in 2011, and continues to serve as its first President. The SANMO joined the International Society for Orthomolecular Medicine the same year, and began holding training seminars and conferences, inviting international experts, including Dr. Yanagisawa, to present to a growing number of doctors.

Over the past decade, Dr. Baghli has been very active in hosting numerous conferences and workshops in Algeria, Austria, Belgium, France, India, Morocco, Tunisia, and Switzerland. He has worked closely with the media and the Ministry of Health to integrate Orthomolecular Medicine into mainstream healthcare in Algeria.

The focus of my work is to humanize medical practice through the implementation of a holistic and personalized therapeutic approach in patient care. This can be accomplished through the integration of Orthomolecular principles, and the encouragement of scientific research by promoting the role of physicians in clinical studies. I wish to express my gratitude for the appointment of ISOM President, especially to Mr Steven Carter, Director of ISOM, and Dr. Atsuo Yanagisawa the preceding President of ISOM
