Biography
Joshua Leisk is a biological engineer, independent researcher, and founder of Born Free, a patient-led research project focused on complex chronic illness, including ME/CFS and Long COVID.
His work applies systems biology and reverse engineering to chronic disease, examining how disruptions in metabolism, mitochondrial function, immune signalling, and cellular regulation may contribute to illness persistence and recovery. He is known for building detailed disease models, pathway diagrams, and translational research tools that help patients, clinicians, and researchers think more clearly about complex biological systems.
Joshua also cofounded the Collaborative Sciences Institute, which provides systems biology education for clinicians working with complex chronic disease, and contributes to Renegade Research, a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit bringing patients, caregivers, scientists, and clinicians together to drive healthcare innovation.
