A majority of orthomolecular practitioners use high doses of certain nutrients in the treatment of human disease. The purpose of this talk is to present information about the benefit of what would be considered “non-nutrient” molecules that are naturally produced by mesenchymal stem cells (MSCMs) harvested from cultured non-controversial afterbirth materials. MSCMs exert anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and trophic effects in pico- and nanomolar concentrations. While falling outside of the “nutrient” category and subject to much higher regulatory hurdles, these “right molecules” may provide for a more robust repertoire of orthomolecular medical tools for the treatment of chronic disease.
