Presenter: William Shaw, PhD

The role of mold in human disease has been recognized as a significant health factor for more than 2000 years. A long passage in the book Leviticus in the Old Testament from about 500 BC describes the importance of mold remediation in the home to prevent disease. Since then, mold exposure due mainly to home mold exposure has been implicated in peer reviewed journals as a major factor in autism, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic latero sclerosis, depression, anxiety, attention deficit with hyperactivity, and multiple sclerosis. The lecture will review the scientific literature implicating mold as a cause of the diseases outlined above, case studies from consultations at The Great Plains Laboratory, mold treatment recommendations, testing for the presence of mold, review of the most common molds, a review of a recent peer-reviewed article on mold treatment resulting in rapid reversal of autism, and evidence for mold infection in greater than 90% of children with autism.
