SUMMARY:Oncology and Orthomolecular Medicine: IV Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Pre-Conference Workshop presented by Paul Anderson\, ND\, and Virginia Osborne\, ND \nA full-day workshop on intravenous therapies designed to prepare attendees with a firm foundation of how nutrients can be used for cancer care. Virginia Osborne and Paul Anderson will share techniques for orthomolecular “rehydration\,” post chemotherapy and/or radiation. They will explain how a practitioner can identify a patient that is in need of special care and a quality of life\, and what IV approaches can help them achieve that improved quality of life. They will identify safety and specific considerations in IV therapies for cancer patients. Their workshop will describe the use of labs and imaging in primary assessment\, potential directions such as oral therapies\, diet\, and how to troubleshooting and reassess when the treatment program should be altered. \nWorkshop Schedule: \n9:00 – 10:30 An Introduction to Orthomolecular IV Therapies in Cancer \n\nMajor uses of orthomolecular IV nutrients in our practices\nEvolution of our approaches (what we have learned and improved on)\nSafety and special considerations in IV therapies for cancer patients\nCase assessment and planning\n\n10:30 – 10:45 Break \n10:45 – 12:15 Use of Orthomolecular IV Therapies in the Extension of and Quality of Life for Cancer Patients \n\nSigns a case is in need of special care and a quality of life approach\nCritical lab values\nIV approaches that improve quality of life\nPost chemotherapy\nPost radiation\nSpecialized orthomolecular rehydration\nEnd of life\n\n12:15 – 1:30 Lunch \n13:30 – 15:00 High Dose IV Vitamin C \n\nSafety and lab assessment\nProtocol evolution through time\nCase series outcomes from the NIH trial\nPersonal insights from 40+ combined years of clinical HDIVC use\n\n15:00 – 15:15 Break \n15:15 – 16:30 Other Nutrient Therapies and Protocol Discussion \n\nOther nutrients of note in cancer IV therapy including specific B vitamins\nCases and Q&A\nIV Formulas and Protocols provided and discussed
